Adding value to something you’re passionate about is very rewarding.

Belinda Gibson

Since 2017, Belinda Gibson has donated her time and experience as an executive and business consultant to the Power of Engineering Advisory Committee. We asked her to share her story.

WHY did you volunteer for the Power of Engineering Advisory Committee?

Felicity Furey (one of the Power of Engineering Co-founders) asked my advice about transitioning governance for a more substantial business model. A few years later, I followed my passion for improving young peoples’ participation in STEM and joined the Advisory Committee. I believe every young person needs to be encouraged to study STEM subjects until the end of secondary school. the Power of Engineering does that beautifully.

WHY is it important for Power of Engineering volunteers to have access to mentors and advisors?

Many of our volunteers are younger people with great engineering experience. The Advisory Committee can help them grow their networks and commercial skills. We are also experienced mentors, coaches and advisors for the Executive Committee. I’m passionate about guiding the Power of Engineering to be successful in these uncertain times.

WHY would you recommend an Advisory Committee role?

Adding value to something you are passionate about is very rewarding.
