our ENGINEERING IN A BOX PROGRAM

Engineering In-A-Box is a 3-5 lesson classroom resource designed to show students how engineers impact society through different disciplines, creative thinking, and collaboration.

We believe that learning about engineering should be:

  • Accessible for every student in Australia, particularly those in regional areas

  • Based on the real world; not just theoretical

  • Creative and engaging, even for students who had not previously considered engineering as a career

Following the great success of our program rollout and first years of operations we are excited to have launched our second box in 2023

Our second generation box is designed around the theme of the Brisbane Olympics 2032. The lessons explore multiple possible engineering solutions, from waste management to enable a circular economy to sustainable Olympic village design. Our program includes experiments, group work and role playing to challenge student perceptions about Engineering

I really like the role play exercise and thinking like an engineer

our impact to date

  • Delivered 85+ boxes across Australia and counting…

  • Reached over 1,700 students across regional and rural Australia

  • 98% satisfaction from students participating in the program

  • Over half of program participants are considering a career in Engineering

What is included in the box?

The Box is delivered free of charge to your school and contains all the materials required to run 3-5 lessons:

  • Teacher guide, including how the lessons link back to the school curriculum and lesson plans

  • Boxes accomodate 30 students. However, worksheets and cards are reusable for use between multiple classes

  • USB with videos and soft copies of printable materials

  • Pre and post support for Teachers in delivering the program

We want Engineering in a Box in every school across Australia. To make it accessible it is:

  • Is free to secondary schools across Australia through industry sponsorship

  • Can be reused by the school for multiple classes

  • Does not require an internet connection or for students to have access to computers or table
